Saturday

Yesterday we went to Bletchley Park, very interesting, but I am sure that I wouldn't have been any use at all.
Today dawned fine and periwinkle blue. Briefing had been brought forward in anticipation of a very brief day with a dirty frontal system advancing eastwards.
Task A was scrubbed in briefing,

Leighton Buzzard NE 9.03 km 140.1° Next, R=5.00 km, Angle=90.0°
Bedford Bridge 24.33 km 26.4° Symmetric, Rmin=0.50 km, Rmax=20.00 km, Angle=90.0°, Cylinder R=0.50 km
Ely 58.77 km 59.2° Symmetric, Rmin=0.50 km, Rmax=20.00 km, Angle=90.0°, Cylinder R=0.50 km
Kettering South 66.66 km 267.9° Symmetric, Rmin=0.50 km, Rmax=20.00 km, Angle=90.0°, Cylinder R=0.50 km
Newport Pagnall 32.23 km 184.2° Symmetric, Rmin=0.50 km, Rmax=20.00 km, Angle=90.0°, Cylinder R=0.50 km
Dunstable Airfield 27.17 km 150.0° Line 3.00 km, Angle=125.0°
Total: 209.14 km

Still sporting considering the outlook, maybe a retrieve in the rain.
BP despite the early brief is switched on and even ready. First launch at 1115. BP is in the middle of the grid and bounces off down the runway which is as ruff as a badgers nether region.
The gate opens at 1200 and BP is off at 1205, just about first to start and is 15km down the second leg 21 mins later at 120kph. She will have to climb soon.
As I said, she had to climb and now has been caught.
Speed has settled to 85kph and she is round Eley and off to Kettering.
Glide ratio to finish has dropped below 100:1. When it drops to 40:1 she is on final glide albeit only just. 30:1 is much more comfortable. She has set her speed to 80knots cross country where the LS7 is still doing better than 30:1.

Ooh it is all looking a bit grotty as the prefrontal crap has now got to Dunstable and the field is 90 km away and possibly in it as well.
The herd has slowed to a canter as they nibble at the 3rd which BP has just rounded after 2hours. Under 60km to go but she is now at 1700'
40Km to go and she needs a climb, she is at 3100agl plus a couple of hundred for Dunstable qfe plus a bit for contingencies, so she will want approx 1000' feet more. BP has drifted away and is not thriving at 2000'.
I shall move towards the trailer.
1524 and she is within touching distance of a final glide, 30:1 to finish, soooo..
Finishers have begun as have landouts.
After an interminable wait in worsening conditions she arrives in good order. With 6 people behind her.
Tomorrow isn't likely, and the LS has been snugged down in the trailer.
All in a good comp
6 days tasked
30 hours flying inc start zone
1565 km flown on task
1 land back, lack of go on first day
1 landout with a/t retrieve
1 relight before start.
4 tasks completed
3182 points, it is a long time since she last broke 3000 points
